This is good, and well written; written too well for me to believe a child wrote this. It does, however get allot of good information out there. I think allot of people see the words “sex offender” and pass on by to something more in line with their reading preferences. Then I think many people are fascinated with anything “forbidden” or crime oriented. The fact’s were nice as were the pictures.

But here is a real kid talking as only a real child can, telling it like it really is fore a child of a registrant.

This article breaks my heart. Why? Because this innocent child, like all family members who elect to live with and emotionally support a sex offender, is the true victim of many of these types of sex offenses. With the scope of the sex offender crimes many accused/convicted have no physical victim. Yet, the offender and their families are subjected to the same harsh penalties and restrictions as the rapist and child molester. The family is just as terrified of possible vigilantism as the offender. Until the majority of the do-gooders in the government and law enforcement realize and accept that the public registry does absolutely no good in preventing sex offense crime, innocent people will continue to be collateral damage of this flawed system. Proponents of the sex offender registry see it as a tool to inform and keep the public safe from the predator that is “hiding in wait” for all the children in the neighborhood. In reality, it is a sanctioned form of bullying and humiliation which can result in vigilante justice. Another result, is generations of children are being raised by “helicopter parents.” Because of their parents’ fears they probably will not experience the joys of a carefree childhood.
